COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS GRANT
Funded by Illinois State Board of Education, GEC is recipient of The Community
Partnership Grant 2022 to 2024. School districts across the country have faced
varying challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the grant will
address the post-pandemic gaps in opportunity and unfinished teaching/learning
that school districts in Illinois are facing. More specifically, the grant aims to
decrease the gaps in meeting students’ social, emotional, behavioral, and mental
health needs.
This Summer Youth Program will be ran every summer. However, the first
Summer Youth Program held this summer beginning in June 2022. The
main purpose of this entire program is to bring awareness to the endless
amount of resources this location has to offer at a fairly close by and
walking distance to all students and their families to best ease up the stress
and distraught this pandemic has caused many families.
Program Description
Summer Youth Program
This Summer Youth Program will be ran every summer. However, the first
Summer Youth Program held this summer beginning in June 2022. The
main purpose of this entire program is to bring awareness to the endless
amount of resources this location has to offer at a fairly close by and
walking distance to all students and their families to best ease up the stress
and distraught this pandemic has caused many families.
After School Program
After School Program Improve is starting from October 2022. The program
will enhance academic outcomes for students and help them improving
their Math and Science skills. Expand opportunities for student learning
beyond the normal school day and provide opportunities for enrichment
activities in a safe and healthy environment. It support local efforts to
integrate programs focused on non-cognitive development (social,
emotional, and behavioral) and mental wellness for children. The program
establish or expand supports addressing the wellbeing of
parents/caregivers and teachers/school staff.
Creating Enduring Partnerships
Create enduring partnerships between schools, community-based
organizations, and mental health providers that will last beyond the grant.
GEC is stablishing relation with local schools such as Mather High School
and non-profit community based agencies to help families and student with
mental health needs and providing support services to improve their living
conditions. With the impact of COVID-19 on many families has been very
difficult to be able to have enough social workers needed to assist all the
mental health needs the students needed to sustain an attainable year
educationally, emotionally and especially with balancing the high amount
of students between the general population of students as well as, IEP/504
Plan Students. The program is designed to develop and help create a
system where students no matter how difficult the hardship and whatever
background can receive the help needed. Global Executive Council’s goal is to open
up doors to create a relief of assistance within the community and high school.
